Boxing Schedule

Boxing Schedule

Unlike football or rugby, boxing doesn’t have a set schedule at the start of each year. As such, the boxing calendar is very fluid. Events can be scheduled at any time and almost anywhere. That make it difficult for fans to keep track of what is happening.

Obviously you don’t want to miss out on any of the big fights that are taking place. That is why our boxing schedule is so important. It allows you to see when all the biggest stars are back in action; what TV network will broadcast their bouts; and who will also be fighting on their under card.

Fight Postponements

There are things to be aware of when it comes to a boxing schedule. First up is cancellations. Sometimes a boxer can get injured in training and this can mean that the bout gets pushed back a few weeks or even months.

A classic example of this was in the build-up to the Rumble in the Jungle, featuring George Foreman and Muhammad Ali. Foreman suffered a cut above his right eye eight days prior to the bout taking place. This meant that the original fight date of September 25th had to be pushed back to October 30th – allowing plenty of time for the wound to heal.

There are many other reasons why a bout can be postponed or even cancelled. To find out more, please take a look at out informative article: Fight Cancellations.

Let’s go again!

Some bouts were so thrilling or generated so much money, that the fans (and promoter) want to see it all over again. That is why you will sometimes see boxing rematches appearing on the boxing schedule.

We have seen many of these over the years such as Tunney vs Dempsey, Eubank vs Benn, Foreman vs Frazier etc. etc. There will always be rematches and at times trilogies in boxing.

To find out more about boxing rematches and why they happen, take a look at our article: What’s the deal with boxing rematches?
